Does sunscreen cause cancer and do more harm than good?

Question:
I just heard there may have been a recent report on sunscreen causing cancer and more harm than good? Anyone else hear this?

Answer:
I read some articles last year about the sun and sunscreen and my understanding is that while sunscreens protect you from getting burned, they do not protect you from contracting skin cancer.

People mistakenly believe that as long as they wear sunscreen, they can stay out in the sun for long periods of time with no ill effect but this is simply not true.
