Question:
Anybody knows how much waterproof sunblock lotion is? My Banana 50 says
that it is waterproof for up to eight hours, but now I know for sure
that it is not true. A couple of weeks ago I went to a water park, and I
put that lotion on right before I entered the park. I was in the park
for about four hours, but unfortunately, it was enough to be burned. It
was the most terrible sunburn I had ever had; so terrible that I was
affraid to show up on the streets for more than a week. Now I am asking
myself is it just Banana lotion or there is no such thing as waterproof
sunblock lotion.
Answer:
"Waterproof for up to eight hours" sounds like a totally bogus claim
to me. I'd expect good waterproof sunblock to last no more than 1- 2
hours if you swim often during that time. I've never used Banana Boat,
we use Water Babies SPF 45 and it works very well. You can't expect
ANY sunblock to protect you from sun completely, you would always get
some sun tan. I'd say don't believe the label, use your common sense:
if you take a swim three-four times, all your sunblock is gone no
matter how good it is.
