Question:
Shiseido UltraLight SunBlock Lotion 30 :I was flipping thru Self (June 99 issue) and saw an ad for
this sunblock. It's in a blue bottle with orange top and lettering. Has
anyone tried this? How much is this going to set me back? Would it be
alright for someone with oily, acne-prone skin?
Answer:
It is quite nice and does absorb into the skin quickly, however two things to
watch out for if you have oily skin:
1) it has oils--silicone oils, but oils nonetheless so it's not as matte as say
Shu Uemura's UV Underbase
2) The formula is somewhat dated sunblock-wise. It only has Titanium Dioxide
and Octyl Methoxycinnamate as the sunscreen agents. Many on alt.fashion have
discussed the merits of having Zinc Oxide or Avobenzone in a product to benefit
from the best UVA/UVB blocking.
I would save the $25 or so dollars and get Ocean Potion SPF 45 instead at the
drugstore!
