Question:
i am starting to become somewhat obsessive about protecting my face from the
sun. i'm 30, but people usually guess early 20's because i...knock on
wood...have a youthful face, and no wrinkles at all yet. but i want to keep it
that way for as long as possible. i keep seeing people my age who look older
than their current age, and it's a wake up call.
i was reading the thread about goths having good skin because they have stayed
out of the sun. well, when *i* was younger i did like to tan...but no adverse
effects yet, and i'm crossing my fingers. ethnicity (i'm 1/2 mexican and have
olive skin) and good genes (my whole family looks way younger than they really
are) are on my side, but i know i have to get serious now.
sooo the question is, what kind of hat can i get for those times when i'm out
in the sun just doing errands, or going on my 5 mile walks, without looking
like a total doofus? i don't want to sport some hideous neon visor or
something! does anyone have any ideas for a cute, quirky, dark colored visor or
*shudder* baseball type hat? i hate those things but i think i need one! sigh.
Answer:
For every day errand running during the summer I like
straw or woven hats with a larger brim to protect both
your face and back of the neck. During the winter I wear
sunblock more than in the summer. My winter hats have
smaller brims.
Showed up today at the local Saturday market without
my hat. Every other booth someone had to comment on
the fact I wasn't wearing my hat. :0 ) Apparently I
get noticed for my hats at the market.
Its harder to find anything stylish for power walking! :0)
For my walks during the summer I try to pick early evening
when it cooler and sun exposure is limited.
Sun block running in my eyes bugs me on longer walks
of 2 miles or more..since I sweat! Been pondering
trying out some of those little cotton hats withthe wide
brim out front...not quite as ugly as a baseball cap.
The problem being with your head covered you retain
heat too. Maybe the visors are the way to go.:::shudder::
