Question:
As a youngster and young adult I used to do quite a bit of sunbathing.
Although somewhat fair-haired I was able to tan fairly easily with only an
occasional sunburn thrown in. In my new state of heightened consciousness I
no longer condone such behavior. Since the negative effects of the sun are
supposedly cumulative, I am sure that I probably have already done all of the
long term damage to my skin that I would care to.
I work out and participate in some outdoor sports, mainly tennis. As spring
and summer slowly creeps into the north/midwestern part of the U.S. I will
again be playing a lot of outdoor tennis. My problem is that I find it
difficult to protect my skin from the sun while playing for 2-3 hours outside.
I don't like to use a lot of sun tan lotion or sunscreen because I usually end
up sweating a lot of it into my eyes and/or on my hands while I'm trying to
play. I do wear a head band and wrist bands but still have the problem. Yet
if I go totally without lotion I am susceptible to some minor sunburning.
Does anybody out there have any experience with a "sports" sunscreen that they
have had success with and could recommend? I did try one brand -the name
escapes me right now- and wasn't too pleased (it was still pretty messy). Any
suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
One word: Bullfrog.
SPF 36, works all day long, regardless of what you do.
Designed for staying on while swimming. It does. Both me and my
ex-lifeguard roommate swear by it.
