what treatments are available for skin cancer?

Question:
Could someone tell me what treatments are available for skin cancer these days. Has that miracle pill or salve been invented yet :)

Thanks for the info,

Answer:
Nope, not yet! :) Excision of the affected tissue is still the therapy of choice. Radiation therapy is used for large areas of involvement. Closest thing to a "miracle pill or salve" is 5FU, or 5-Flourouracil, used to treat actinic keratosis, or "pre-cancerous" lesions. Available by prescription only, and its use must be closely monitored by the prescribing physician. Hope this helps.
