Question:
I get a yeast like rash on my skin from the steroids from time to time.
And I guess it's time. So yesterday I called the dermatologist to get
in for a script for diflucan when all my at home remedies didn't work.
He could see me at 3pm same day or in two weeks. So in I go...
Well I came home with a numb nose and a skin biopsy. (No -- the rash
wasn' t on my nose) But I had gone in last January for a bump on the
end of one nostril which the dr thought was just an infected white
head. I was supposed to reschedule for a biopsy but it went away and
came back a few times and time went by and I never scheduled the
biopsy. Yesterday when he looked at it he decided it's in fact skin
cancer and did a biopsy then and there. Not only that he removed it and
cauterized it. I should have the results of the biopsy tomorrow but
I'm a little freaked out. He said what he did yesterday is probably all
that will be needed but we would know more when the biopsy came back.
I'm a little freaked out. It's been there for almost two years and I've
had multiple drs look at it and all told me the same thing until
yesterday. I really should have gone back for that biopsy earlier. But
different things I did made it go away like taking abx or using
bactriban on it so I thought the dr was right about an infected white
head. I hope it's all fixed now but I'm still freaked out about it.
It's always something, isn't it? On a positive note, the wound vac is
working fine and the bandage change went perfectly well.
Answer:
If it helps, it's not melanoma: you'd have been dead a year ago if it
was. Always look on the bright side! hehe *evil grin*
I know just what you mean about test results. I get that at least twice
a week. My wife doesn't like seeing me get so worried, but in the last
year these have been twice a week potentially life and death verdicts.
