Question:
may I ask about the Anessa by Shiseido? Where do you purchase
this?
I love the Shiseido Ultra Light spf30, and use it on face and body, and
I like the Shiseido Facial Sunblock spf35 as well, but it doesn't smell
quite as nice as the Ultra Light, and is much more expensive - kind of
hate to use it for body, and the facial contains oxybenzone, which is
known to irritate some skins. While it doesn't bother me, I'm afraid
irritation might start.
My other favorite is Borlind spf20 for sensitive skin, in the blue
bottle.
The Anessa sounds really interesting. Do you recall the sunblocking
ingredients?
I'm really looking forward to seeing the redesign of the Shiseido color
cosmetics, too.
Answer:
Shiseido the Makeup has been out here in Singapore for quite awhile,
but it's not that different from their old makeup range, I'm sad to
say. A few formulations and colours have changed, and the packaging is
nicer, but that's it.
As for Anessa, it's only presently available in Hong Kong and Japan
(Singapore too but only on special order). It contains zinc oxide,
avobenzone, octyl methoxycinnamate, and ethylhexyl triazone, and is
almost watery in texture. I know Uno said that zinc oxide appears last
in the ingredient listing, but is that last of all ingredients, or
last of the sunscreen agents listed? When Shiseido was contacted, they
did include zinc oxide as an agent. Also, the (very sheer but
definite) white tint leads me to believe that there is a substantial
amount of zinc oxide in this.

I personally am using on the face Kiss Me Sunkiller SPF105 (zinc
oxide, titanium dioxide and octyl methoxycinnamate). It's almost as
light as Anessa, and tinted. I have many other good sunscreens in my
drawer, but I'm trying to finish them one at a time.
On the body, when I remember, Vichy SPF 60 (titanium dioxide, Mexoryl
SX and XL). Rather sticky, but I want to use it up!
I never use sunscreen at home, as I don't spend a lot of time in
direct sunlight.
