Question:
My dad just found out he has melanoma of the liver and spleen, but I cannot
find any information on it. All the melanomas I look up pertain to skin and
skin cancer.
Is there another name for this type of cancer?
I'd appreciate any sites to go to or info.
Thanks.
Answer:
Generally melanomas originate on the skin and then spread to other organs
during later staging of the cancer. Stage IV melanoma indicates melanoma
cancer cells have been found in other areas of the body. Liver spleen etc.
Ask your Oncologist if hte melanoma on the spleen and liver are secondary
melanomas? I think you will find the melanoma on the organs originated from
a primary skin cancer.
