Question:
My DH and I have been trying for 3 years now with absolutely no sucess. A few years
before I started trying, I had cryosurgery for cervical melanoma. At the
time my surgeon told me there was a slight chance that this would cause me
to become infertile. What I did notice after the surgery was that my
vaginal moisture became to a fraction of what it used to be. I asked my
surgeon if this would be a problem if I ever wanted to have children and
he said it would not be, but now I am not sure. Is there anyone out there
who has had this surgery and still has had children? I am grasping at
straws, I realize, but I have to do something while I wait for my next
cycle.
Answer:
I had cryo procedure on my cervix in the first 6 months of my
marriage due to a cervical lesion. They never said ANYTHING to
me about this being a problem. Stayed with this gynecologist till
went off B/C pills 4 years later and told her we were going to
start trying. She did not do ob and wished me luck.
After trying on our own for 18 months to use BBT and mucus method
(there were no LH kits on market at time) we went to an RE. One of
the first things discovered was poor cervical mucus via PCT. What
was the answer to that problem? We were to do IUI from then on since
my cervical mucus acts like my own built in diaphragm keeping out
all sperms all the time (or so all PCT tests showed). We have
other problems preventing us from pregnancy, but....
None of the mucus helping methods helped my cervical mucus, by the way.
Suggestion:
If your only problem affecting fertility is poor cervical mucus, then
you should be able to do intra-uterine inseminations to overcome. Still
might take a few months to conceive (as would doing on your own).
